Reference architectures

These architectures come from real Fuuz customers, with names removed. Each one tells the story, then shows where Fuuz sits, what it connects to and what it runs.

Steel

### Integrated Steel Producer

A steel producer runs its entire operation on Fuuz, from raw material receipt to shipment. Fuuz is the factory data system and the execution layer between the mill's control systems, its enterprise applications and its suppliers.

Suppliers submit ship notices through a portal built on Fuuz, trucks and rail cars are weighed and identified at the scale house, and every heat and coil is traceable to shipment.

Connected to

- Cloud ERP
- Transportation management (TMS)
- Level 2 SCADA
- Scale house: truck and rail car scales, rail car RFID
Fuuz runs or drives

- MES, WMS and quality control, receipt to ship
- Supplier portal and ship notices
- Yard management for raw materials
- Track and trace
Fuuz sits between the enterprise applications and the mill. Gateways at the mill and scale house feed one Fuuz enterprise that runs execution, warehouse, quality control and the supplier portal, connected to the ERP and TMS.

Industrial manufacturing

### Manufacturer On On-Premises SAP ECC

An industrial manufacturer keeps SAP ECC on premises as its financial system of record and runs plant execution and warehouse on Fuuz in the public cloud. A Fuuz Gateway installed next to SAP in the customer's data center is how the Fuuz enterprise communicates with ECC, and Fuuz Gateways at the plant connect directly to the equipment.

Because the plant applications live in Fuuz, the move from ECC to S/4HANA does not require rebuilding them.

Connected to

- SAP ECC 6 on premises, through a Fuuz Gateway installed next to it
- Production equipment through Fuuz Gateways at the plant
Fuuz runs or drives

- MES: production reporting, scrap, downtime
- WMS: receiving, inventory and shipping
- Operator screens and labels at the line
SAP ECC stays the system of record and talks to the Fuuz enterprise through a Fuuz Gateway installed next to it. Fuuz runs execution and warehouse, collects machine data through the gateway, and drives operator screens and label printing at the line.

Consumer brands

### Consumer Brand On SAP S/4HANA

A consumer brand extends SAP S/4HANA with supply chain, e-commerce and EDI workflows on Fuuz, keeping the ERP a clean core.

Orders from channels and trading partners flow through Fuuz into S/4HANA, and fulfillment status flows back out.

Connected to

- SAP S/4HANA
- E-commerce channels
- Trading partners over EDI
Fuuz runs or drives

- Supply chain workflows
- E-commerce order orchestration
- EDI order and ship-notice processing
Fuuz sits between external channels and S/4HANA, so partner and channel integrations live outside the ERP core.

Multi-site enterprise

### Many Plants, Many Systems

A multi-site manufacturer runs a Fuuz enterprise at each facility, fed by its own gateways, so every site keeps running on its own. A central Fuuz enterprise connects the sites to each other and to enterprise systems.

Solutions are packaged once and deployed to every site, and sites can connect to different ERPs during an acquisition or migration.

Connected to

- Enterprise ERP, PLM and BI
- A different ERP at one site
- Equipment at every facility
Fuuz runs or drives

- Site execution at every plant
- Cross-site reporting and orchestration
- One enterprise model across sites
Each site runs its own Fuuz enterprise and keeps working if the central tier is unreachable. Sites synchronize with a central Fuuz enterprise that connects to enterprise systems.

Facility data pipeline

### From Device To ERP

Inside one facility, machine data is collected at the edge, contextualized in an ISA-95 Unified Namespace and turned into transactions by pipelines in Fuuz.

The ERP receives clean production, scrap and inventory transactions instead of raw machine data.

Connected to

- PLCs, machines and sensors
- The ERP
Fuuz runs or drives

- Contextualization in the Unified Namespace
- Production reporting, scrap, downtime and WIP pipelines
Data moves up from devices to the gateway, where topics on edge connections form a local UNS, and into the enterprise Unified Namespace, where pipelines turn it into ERP transactions. State, context and audit are persisted in Fuuz.
